Oconee crappie fishing has been great even with the cold fronts, we are still averaging 40-50 a trip vertical jigging over brush and ledges and there are some real nice fish coming off this technique, look for this bite to slow over the next few weeks and the long line bite to really heat up! This time of year Oc crappie transition over the big mounts of timber and suspend just over the tree tops as the water cools, and that is where we just cover water trolling double jigs with the trolling motor with an array of 8 different length rods! November and December will be the same technique, all about long lining!
Crappies are still tightly schooled on and in the trees and ledges but I am noticing some of my trees are starting to go bare as the crappie are starting to suspend and scatter out over the submerged trees! Let’s get you out there fishing!
