Happy New Year and thank God for the cold weather! As I am writing this report it is forecasted to be 24 degrees tonight. Exciting times on Lake Oconee. I’m gonna talk about striper fishing first. January is when it all cranks up and the fisherman return to the water. We have been guiding right through Christmas, but football is over (never really started) and the anglers are ready to go. The stripers have been really good in front of Great Waters Boathouse, but the last 2 times I visited there, they are gone. This is where most of us make hay in January. I’m sure they will return as the days were really too nice in December for them to be bunched up there, but be sure to check it out as I believe it is a sign of good things to come.
